1. Project COST CA22106 - Migrant Disaster Victim Identification (MDVI)
FSC Ivan Vučetić is, along with ten other states, a partner in the project. The project was approved for financing on May 12, 2023 and will last until October 4, 2027. The goal of this project is to increase the possibilities of identifying the human remains of migrants, given the currently low percentage of positive identifications (22%). Through this project, interdisciplinary research and coordinated initiatives (meetings, trainings, short-term scientific missions, etc.) are planned to encourage the development and validation of international processes and resources, including the use of innovative craniofacial methods, drone methods and social media, in addition to previously recognized identification methods (DNA, fingerprints, dental impressions).
2. Project “Procurement of equipment for the detection of gunshot residue (CRO GSR)”
FSC Ivan Vučetić as project beneficiary leads a project with a total project value of EUR 990,000.00 including VAT. Of this amount, EUR 742,500.00 including VAT, representing 75% of the total, is co-financed by the Internal Security Fund (ISF).
The purpose of the project is to strengthen capacities in the field of forensic testing, research, and expert analysis for combating serious and organized crime through the procurement of specialized equipment for the detection of gunshot residue (GSR)."
3. Project "Procurement of Equipment for Identification of New Psychoactive Substances (CRO NPS)"
FSC Ivan Vučetić as project beneficiary leads a project with a total value of EUR 1,780,000.00 including VAT, of which EUR 1,335,000.00 including VAT, representing 75% of the amount, will be co-financed from the Internal Security Fund.
The purpose of the project is to strengthen forensic capacities in the field of detection, identification and forensic expertise of new psychoactive substances through the procurement of equipment. The project plans to procure five (5) devices - Gas chromatograph with mass detector and infrared spectrometer (GC-MS-FTIR), liquid chromatograph with time-of-flight measurement (LC-qTOF), liquid chromatograph with dual mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and two portable Raman and NIR spectrometers. The acquisition of the aforementioned equipment will improve the reliability and success of the identification of new psychoactive substances, especially those that, due to their chemical structure, cannot be identified using existing instrumental techniques at the Center and in real time.
4. FOR FUTURE - "Forensic Fundamentals, Technology, Multidisciplinarity, Research, Evaluation"
FSC Ivan Vučetić is, along with 23 other countries, a partner in the project. The duration of the project is 24 months. The financing of the project is carried out from the EU program ISF Police, Direct Award Grants 2022, organized by the European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI). Project FOR FUTURE represents the continuation of earlier ENFSI projects with the aim of developing forensic science in Europe, in accordance with ESFA action plans. The project has 8 work packages, and the FSC participates in 2 work packages:
- Multidisciplinary collaborative exercises in forensic science - the goal of the work package is to conduct an interdisciplinary exercise in which experts from several areas of expertise use the same expertise material in 30 laboratories.
- ReAct II - continuation of the ReAct project; The goal of the WP is to develop an online available computer program that will calculate the probability of primary and secondary DNA transfer in real forensic situations.
