It brought together experts in forensic science, crime scene investigation, and bloodstain pattern analysis from numerous countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and across Europe. Among the participants were two forensic experts from the Forensic Science Center „Ivan Vučetić“.
The conference programme covered the historical development of bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA), the latest scientific and professional advances in the field, crime scene reconstruction, the application of emerging technologies in forensic investigations and crime scene documentation, as well as the standardization of BPA methodologies.
Particular emphasis was placed on the development and training of new BPA experts through mentoring programmes, which remain in short supply worldwide. The conference also promoted the exchange of professional experience through presentations of complex case studies, expert lectures, and discussions on current challenges in forensic practice, including machine learning and the potential application of artificial intelligence (AI).
Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to acquire new professional knowledge, gain insight into international trends and best practices, and establish valuable contacts with leading experts in the field of bloodstain pattern analysis. The knowledge and experience gained will contribute to the further enhancement of professional practice and to the continued development and implementation of the BPA methodology at the Centre.
