The Case Evidence Department

The Case Evidence Department is composed of two distinct units - Forensic Photography Laboratory and internal Registry Office.

The Forensic Photography Laboratory is responsible for conducting the forensic photography of materials, as well as the forensic fingerprint photography for the purpose of dactyloscopic examination /the Fingerprint Department.

The Centre's/internal Registry Office manages the administrative tasks such as receiving and registration of documents and forensic materials arriving at/addressed to/received by the Centre, after which they are/which are  subsequently distributed within the Centre, according to the relevant areas of expertise/depending on the areas of forensic expertise.

Likewise/Additionally, all documents created within the Centre, along with their corresponding forensic materials, are forwarded to the Registry Office for dispatch, while copies of the Forensic Expert Reports and their related documentation are stored in the Centre’s archives.

Since the Centre’s core business process involves converting material traces collected at a crime scene into a valid legal evidence, particular attention is devoted to ensuring the traceability of forensic material and preserving the chain of evidence.

In order to modernise administrative procedures, a high-performance document scanner has been acquired, and the digitalization of forensic case files and other relevant documents has been initiated.

The Department's responsibilities also include engaging in the development of information system concepts, proposing security measures and standards for the information system, and overseeing the development of the electronic data processing system at the Centre level.
